In the announcement of the release of this product as well as in its description on their website, Ranger Point Precision points out that this hammer spur extension for Marlin lever action rifles was designed based on the features requested by the customers. Particularly, this accessory was designed with input from MarlinOwners.com forum members. Let’s take a look at this product’s features.
The hammer extensions are designed to allow manipulating the hammer when a scope is mounted on the rifle and the original spur is hard to reach. Although being a simple little accessory, this one is quite well thought out. Its extended length along with the curved profile, deep diamond checkering, and rounded edges are designed to provide a larger, more comfortable surface that will better fit the shooter’s thumb and ensure a non-slip firm purchase.
Allen wrench necessary to install it. The installation is a pretty simple process and requires sliding the extension onto the hammer spur and tightening the set screw. This extension has versions for pre-safety Marlins (made before 1983) and cross-bolt safety Marlins (made after 1983). Later in September, there will also be a version for 1950s Marlins. Regardless of the color and model choice, the MSRP of this accessory is $23.
